About IDEA

IDEA Public Schools is a growing network of tuition-free, open enrollment, K-12 public charter schools. In San Antonio, IDEA operates 14 schools serving more than 5,400 students from across the city. The longer IDEA schools are in existence, the bigger the wait lists become. Overall, more than three students applied for every one available seat at IDEA schools in San Antonio for the 2015-16 school year. IDEA is committed to developing students with the academic, social, and leadership characteristics needed to apply, matriculate, and succeed in a four-year college or university. In regions with a high school dropout rate that hovers at fifty percent, IDEA’s battle cry is “College for all children – No excuses!” For nine years in a row 100% of IDEA graduates have been accepted to college and have graduated at a rate 5 times the national average for students from low-income backgrounds.
